The
Healer's Making,
looks like a great dark fantasy book. Are there any plans to make
this part of a series?
All
my books occur in a timeline. This one is a mythology in the Forsaken
Isles. This one was so much fun to write that I am seriously
considering blowing this novella out into a full book.
What
do you think makes a great story?
An
unreliable narrator that keeps readers on their toes, unknowables
that shape plot twists, and a rip-roaring good time. I’d normally
add humor, but The Healer’s Making foregoes humor for action pace
and epic scale.
What
inspired you when writing The
Healer's Making?
The
world of www.forsakenisles.com
is powerfully magic, full of gods and heroes, and is brutal. I wanted
a story of compassion during a lost epoch of peace. This is Atlantis,
Greece, Rome, and other empires falling and in their midst, a healer.
What
are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time?
I
aspire to full time but am enjoying this so much right now I often
wonder if I went full time, would it become a job.
When
did you decide to become a writer?
I
always knew I would write, even when I was 10 years old. Now, I’m a
fantasy author masquerading as an IT professional.
When
writing The
Healer's Making
did anything stand out as particularly challenging?
This
story wrote itself. My muse was strong and the story flew onto paper.
I loved it.
How
did you come up with the story of The
Healer's Making?
Each
god in my world has a dominion that, in turn, enables an
anti-dominion. I wanted a pure healing dominion controlled by a
single god and to show what a priest in that dominion might be like.
What
do you like to do when not writing?
I
love hiking, camping, reading, and writing. My interests that allow
daydreaming are especially powerful.
