Opens in 1934. Farm boy Tonio is oldest of nine. Sobe is the new lawman's daughter. She shows up at school and Tonio is smitten. She is the beloved daughter of her father. Tonio is also the favored child. When they debate they are matched in intelligence and wit. They move quickly toward one another. When trouble comes to the farm, Tonio is the one to hatch a plan to get even. He is a brave but reckless gangster, and so in love. But love can't save him. Matter of fact, it might get him killed.
