Keto Diet looks like a healthy guide to eating for
those looking for a low carb diet. Can
you tell us a little about the book?
Our lifestyles are filled with activities, ranging from
schooling and education to trying to find the perfect work life balance.
Ketosis, or Keto, for short, falls within your day-to-day activities. In short,
yes, it is a low-carb lifestyle, but it is also a way to better oneself in how
they look, feel, and go about their days. We have all heard of Keto, heck,
looking back at the last 30 years we have seen dozens, if not hundreds of diet
‘fads’ go by. Yes, I said ‘fad,’ as much of what has happened in the past did
not have the scientific research to back it up. As with science, diets have
evolved, and Keto has stress-tested some of the deepest researches on your
health. Keto, in short, is a limitation of your carbohydrates for a prolonged
period of time, thus getting the majority of your caloric intake from fats, and
to a lesser extent, protein. Fats are not bad, it is the type of fat,
that is. Keto is a lifestyle, and eating avocadoes, olive oil, pecans,
pistachios, wild-caught salmon and grass-fed beef, is perfect. You can be a
vegan, too! In this book, I break down what keto is, show scientific evidence
behind certain ‘issues’ that tend to come up, like blaming high cholesterol on
the amounts of beef and eggs that one eats, and show ways why Keto is a great
lifestyle to follow.
Who is your book for?
Anyone who is looking to find a great way to feel better,
live a healthier lifestyle, have more energy, and have a better mood! You don’t
have to be over-weight to go on keto, but you do have to be motivated to change
your perspective on living a healthier life! While this is used by people of
all ages, I do recommend that you should be at least 18 years old, and if you
have underlying health conditions, please consult with your physician.
What inspired you when writing Keto Diet?
I have also had a love for well-being. I was overweight in
high school and carried that into college. Upon graduation, I landed a job on
Wall Street, and knew that my life had to change. That’s what kick-started my
journey to healthy habits. I became involved in online health forums, where I
was a moderator for the biggest forum ever created. I studied the science
behind diets and muscles, and became an aficionado. Life caught up with me
about ten years later, had two children, and my life went on a spiral of
unhealthy habits. Like others, I was getting into an awkward place where my
health was deteriorating, and I needed to ‘kick start’ the engine, so to speak.
Got back into healthy eating, caught up with Pubmed (an online scientific
publishing journal) and decided to show how important, a well-established and
healthy diet is and that was the baseline for this book.
Why did you decide to become a writer?
Can not say that I always wanted to write, in fact, it was
not until I turned 40, that I decided to write as a hobby. My background has
been in Finance, and after working on Wall Street, I went to a Top 4 accounting
firm and later a Fortune 50 company. Even though I read a lot, my ambition was
to educate myself, rather than educate others. Fast forward to now, and I am
stoked to have started to write!
How did you come up with the ideas in Keto Diet?
Science, science and science. I always read a ton, and even
though the most of the books were for self-improvement, there were a lot of
things I heard over the years that bugged me a bit, and it was more for the
lack of knowledge and know-how, that I wanted to educate others. Regardless of
what diet you follow, you do need to be diligent on treating your body as a
temple. At the end of the day, if you treat it well, it will treat you well! In
this book, I delve into the science, and create a holistic plan as to what one
should do, eat, and think, about being on keto.
Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when
writing Keto Diet?
Not really. It is a situation where you need to
self-reflect, and understand, what you are trying to accomplish. Between the
Paleo diet, the Keto diet, the South Beach diet, to ‘whatever diet,’ it is
important to understand the basis behind what you are consuming, and how will
this diet better yourself.
What do you like to do when not writing?
I love reading, hanging out with the family, and working on
my business. I’m an avid golfer and tennis player, and though our professional
sports teams are not that good in our market, I enjoy going to a game here and
there with the kids. Self-development for me is vital, and knowledge is power.
