Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19 looks like a timely and important book for
children. What age group is the book for?
This
picture eBook is for children five years and up, ideally to be read with an
adult.
What inspired you when writing Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19?
I
heard of friends and colleagues whose children were confused by the COVID-19
pandemic situation. I secured the backup and support of like-minded friends and
colleagues in the production of a free eBook to support children.
Can you tell us a little about your background?
I
write semi-fictional stories that cover business and technology subjects. I
also have a background in business analysis, coaching and training. The books I
write feature the Carnsa family (one retiree, three adults and three children).
They apply tools and techniques typically used in the office at home.
How did you come up with the story in Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19?
A
few weeks before I finished writing the Haley and Comet learn about
Kanban picture book targeted at young children. It featured the
youngest twins Haley and Comet. I decided the twins could learn about COVID-19
from the adults in the family.
Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when
writing Haley
and Comet Learn About COVID-19?
I
am grateful to the teacher and parental feedback received. However, it wasn't
easy to incorporate the feedback into less than 500 words. I am still getting
used to the picture book format.
What do you like to do when not writing?
Catching
up on sleep or reading crime novels.
