Miracle Malcolm looks like a great book. What can you tell us about Malcolm?
Thank you! Miracle Malcolm is
inspired by my son, Malcolm, who was born prematurely at 1lb, 13oz. He spent 3 months in the NICU at Edward
Hospital until he was healthy enough and weighed enough to be discharged home.
Malcolm is now 2 ½ and has progressed amazingly!
That’s an amazing
cover. Can you tell us a little about
it?
Thank you! The cover is the
actual face of my son Malcolm. The illustrator executed very well to ensure
that the digital art process looked exactly like my son. I wanted the art to
closely resemble him in order to bring an even more personal experience to our
readers.
What will readers get out
of your book?
Our readers will join Miracle
Malcolm on his journey through being born prematurely. In our introductory
book, Miracle Malcolm shares the start of his journey, however, as we progress
into the Miracle Malcolm series, our readers can expect a closer look into
Malcolm’s challenges and triumphs due to being born prematurely.
Did anything stick out as
particularly challenging when writing Miracle Malcolm?
The challenge for me was
actually releasing it and sharing it with the public. I had to seek my own
personal healing from giving birth prematurely. I had to overcome quite a bit
of emotion before I was comfortable enough to be transparent and open up my
experience to the public.
Can you tell us a little
about yourself?
I have always enjoyed writing
creatively. I started writing poems at the age of 9. My first experience at
being published was in middle school. Several students, including myself,
received the opportunity to sell our book of poems and creative writing with
the rest of our school and parents. As I got older, I started writing screen
plays in high school and took a poetry class to help further my creativity. I
was also a part of the drama club. After high school, I had other interests and
was leg back to writing with the birth of my son.
