Dating Me (Author Interview)

Dating Me looks like a unique self-help book.  What can you tell us about it?
The book covers a variety of topics. One is acknowledgment of one’s self-awareness around feelings, actions towards others, and communication that starts and ends with you.
Second, I speak on one’s family upbringing and environment that can mold a person into having who you are and how individual should acknowledge their upbringing and how it shows up in raising their kids and relationships he has.
Third, is loving yourself which is what majority the book is about. After all that is said and done, are individuals happy with themselves no matter what has happened in their life or should I say content with what has happened good or bad. Loving yourself without any regrets, that’s getting back to the basics of loving you.

How long did it take you to write Dating Me?
It took me over 6 years to write this book.

What inspired you when writing Dating Me?
My life, literally I was going through a transition moving from my home town in Oregon to Arizona. I had time to reflect on my past and present within my new environment. Traveling and going over talking with my younger cousin and our discuss of our future I began to write out what I was feeling and thinking.

What will readers get out of your book?
I hope readers gain insight on taking care of self, if that’s physically, finically and mostly self-love to get through reality of life.  There are also tools people can implement right after they read the text.

How did you come up with the story and ideas in Dating Me?
The story came from me journaling about my life

Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing Dating Me?
The part that sticks out the most was writing about my siblings and I being raised by our father. It’s not a typical story you here when the biological mother is not around but in our case it happened. It is still challenging to deal with at times but that is another story.

What do you like to do when not writing?
When I’m not writing I like to watch movies, go to the park, or cook meals with my kid.
