Can you tell us a little about Agile @HR?
In the book I am trying to explain the most common agile
working methods and frameworks and give the readers some advice how to
implement them in their daily business as well as when is the best time to do
so.
What motivated you to write the book?
You know in our times everybody now wants to work agile but
what is mostly forgotten is that it is quite a journey till your employees start developing the
right mindset to accept those changes in
their daily business that are needed to really BE agile. When I was
hired at my company one of my tasks was to bring an agile approach to the teams
I work with and I was lucky that my bosses also see that it also takes time to
reach that culture change that is needed to get those teams to perform. Anyway
I needed to write a concept for that whole project and what resulted was that
book.
What type of reader did you write the book for?
To be honest it can be interesting for everybody who is
interested in the agile approach, but as i am examining the way how to
implement those methods in Human Resources it will be most useful for HR
Managers or Professionals who are willing to change the way they work with
their teams.
How long did it take you to write Agile @HR?
Actually not that long – I started with the idea when I started
my new position. Overall it took about 6 months.
How did you come up with the title for the book?
I wanted to have a easy to remember and “hip” title and so I
sticked to those three words read just like an email address.
Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when
writing Agile @HR?
As is wanted the book to be a guideline for those willing to
work Agile in Human Ressources it was quite hard not to dive to deep into each
method or framework and sticking to the plan just to give a high level intro
into each topic.
What do you like to do when not writing?
Apart from my work, family comes first. I love spending time
with my wife and my two kids along with the dogs and our horses. Also I am a
passionate volunteer firefighter at the town we live in.
Where can readers find out more about your work?
I also speak at conferences about this topic. In the near
future there are two events already confirmed for Germany. For those who have
LinkedIn, they can connect to my profile there where I will be giving updates.
And finally there is a Facebook page for the Book at http://www.facebook.com/agileathr.
I heard you have plans for each copy sold. What would that be about?
As Nature and environment are a big topic for me, I decided
to plant a tree for every copy sold. I am supporting the “Eden Reforestation
Project” in Madagascar. Readers who contact me via the Facebook page and send
a picture of the book or the receipt and
their email address will be given a sponsored tree on their name.
