Can you tell us a little about Joey’s Place?
Joey’s Place is a small-town romantic comedy about two young
adults, Elizabeth, and Andrew, who met once when they were just kids on a
terrible day. They comforted each other on this day and even gave each other
nicknames Drew and Beth.
The story takes place years later when a down-on-her-luck
Beth returns to small-town Edge Lake to work at Drew’s dad’s bar, Joey’s Place.
When she meets Drew again, sparks fly right away. BUT- Drew is not the same
sweet boy he was back then. He’s bitter and angry at his dad Joey, so much so
that he wants Joey to sell the bar to his stepdad.
Beth finds herself in the middle of this feud between father
and son and wants to find a way to mend them.
Drew is stubborn and refuses even to entertain the idea of
mending fences.
Despite this big issue between them, sparks are flying right
off the bat, and the chemistry between them is undeniable.
Even though Drew claims he doesn’t ‘do relationships,’ he
can’t stay away from Beth. Is she going to steal his heart despite all his
efforts to keep it locked up?
As Beth finds herself growing more and more smitten with
Drew, is she setting herself up for a fall?
More than the bar is on the line in this romantic dramedy.
What motivated you to write the book?
I write what I wanted to read, and I really wanted enemies-to-lovers
that were not quite as dark/enemy-ish. While Drew and Beth have conflicted
ideas about his dad and the bar, the romance is fast-paced and fun to read,
with tons of witty banter and flirting.
What type of reader did you write the book for?
Romance lovers enjoy a fast-paced romance, with a good bit
of humor but also heartfelt and teary-eyed moments too.
Can you tell us a little about Joey?
Joey Cooper is the owner of Joey’s Place and Andrew Cooper’s
dad. He made some big mistakes when Andrew was a kid and that caused a major
rift. Joey now is a really sweet man, who cares a lot about his son and would
love to make things right again. He’s a laid-back type of boss and a bit of a
father figure to Beth, she bonds with him straight away.
How long did it take you to write Joey’s Place?
About one year.
How did you come up with the title for the book?
I opted to name it after the bar as this is where they ‘meet
cute’ again and where much of the story takes place.
Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when
writing Joey’s Place??
I really enjoyed the entire process, writing the story feels
like bringing the characters to life and it’s so thrilling for me. The most
challenging part for me was honestly saying goodbye to them all at the end!
Luckily book two will be coming, it will feature a new couple, but many of our
faves from Joey’s Place will be in it too. It’s called Tattoos and Tulips and
will be coming out sometime later this year.
What do you like to do when not writing?
I have two huge German shepherds that take a lot of time and
are so fun! I also love gardening, cooking, and reading.
