Gay Minimalist looks like a great book. What can you tell us about it?
It’s a
distillation of everything I learned about Minimalism in my twenties. It is easy to read & implement into your
life to improve it! It’s printed in
beautiful colors with a collection of my most popular blog posts (now retired)
together in one place.
Any plans to turn it into a series?
No, it’s
a straightforward & useful tool to create greater meaning in life.
What scene or section did you have the most fun writing?
Probably
sharing some of my little cooking hacks at the end.
What inspired the idea for the book?
I was
living in Chicago & noticed that the gay community especially seemed tied
up with superficial spending and consumerism.
I had experienced so many benefits in my own life, saving time and money
through Minimalism that I had to share my knowledge with the LGBTQIA community
and beyond.
How did you come up with the title for the book?
It was
the name of my blog which I ran for many years in my twenties. I’m a Minimalist & I just happen to be
Gay. I think queerness or gender identity
or really anything that gives a person their sense of self should be not just
tolerated but celebrated! Our strength
as a global civilization is our diversity.
The more diverse communities are in their expression, the greater
likelihood they are to thrive & implement new ideas to help them achieve
that success.
Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing Gay Minimalist?
Formatting
the book & narrowing down which blog posts I wanted to include or leave
out.
What do you like to do when not writing?
I am a
workaholic artist, so I’m either making music or Art. I try to enjoy coffee, the ocean, going out
to eat, playing games, calling friends.
Oh & listening to tons of podcasts about consciousness, aliens,
Sasquatch, the paranormal, etc!
