Can you tell us a little about The Bucket of Blood?

Fans of sassy splatterpunk will enjoy this darkly-funny comedy about freelance spies and their helter-skelter tirades in a dystopian Detroit ruled by Granny Schmif.

What motivated you to write the book?

Through all of life’s ups and downs my family has brought a humorous , almost cynical view to the world that has kept me determined.  They are the motivation.

What type of reader (target marketing) did you write the book for?

As I began writing The Bucket of Blood I realized the concept’s hilarity and set out to continue on with something that would look good on the shelves next to God Hates Astronauts, Chew, Shirtless Bear Fighter and the like… The book is a good fit for fans of dry humor, good art, and a storyline that is actually worth the time…

Can you tell us a little about Spish and Joop?

My late grandfather’s friends’ names back in the day were Spish Sullivan and Joop Sweeny.  I always loved these names as a kid…  As characters they represent me… Spish, the angry introvert… and Joop, the overly confident slightly intelligent socially awkward guy.

How long did it take you to write The Bucket of Blood?

The Bucket of Blood is an ongoing series currently 1 ½ years in the making.  Issue #1 was released last week.  The following issues release dates are TBD… Enough of a calling and I could release them tomorrow 😉

How did you come up with the title for the book?

The Bucket of Blood is an actual tavern that once existed in Detroit in the 1920’s… it’s a

Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing The Bucket of Blood?

The bucket of blood was my stab at reconciling my own life woes into a flippant perspective and then blurting them into a script allowing my multiple perspectives to be worked out through the eyes of any one of The Bucket’s characters.

What do you like to do when not writing?

I’m currently obsessed with my newly purchased 3D printer and the array of plastic garbage I can create, print, and then push onto my children pretending they are ‘toys’.  I also do a lot of gaming.. Flames of War…

I also have a lovely family. A beautiful wife and 3 children… and 3 cats.  So, there’s that too.
