Winston in Love looks like an exciting children’s story. Can you tell us a little about it?
Winston in Love is about a snake who lives in a park
and is looking for love, but he keeps scaring everyone away.
Any plans to turn it into a series?
Yes, I’m currently working on the next book in this series,
and I hope there will be many more to come.
How were the illustrations done in Winston in Love?
I worked with a wonderful Illustrator named Rosina Spivak. I
gave her a description of what I pictured for each page, and we worked together
to turn my concept into something beautiful.
What inspired the idea for your book?
The idea for this book first came to me years ago when I was
about 14 or 15. I used to amuse my little sisters by making up stories and
drawing it out as I told it to them. This story was inspired by my mom, who is
not a fan of snakes. In the original version it was about a cute little garden snake
who was deeply in love with my mother, and every time he tried to talk to her,
she would scream and run away.
What age group is the book for?
The target age of this book is 3-8 years old. Although, this
story can certainly be enjoyed by all ages. I personally love a good children’s
book.
What part of the book was the most fun to write?
My favorite part of writing is seeing the story unfold.
There’s a point in most stories where you don’t know what is going to happen
until you write it. I love being able to surprise myself.
What do you like to do when not writing?
I love reading, baking, decorating, swimming, playing DND,
and going to Karaoke with my friends.
Where can readers find out more about your work?
I might be one of the only millennials with no social media
accounts. I’m told I need to get with the times, but until I can figure out
