Sharing Jesus with Muslims in America was written to give ideas for practical ways for people and their churches to form relationships with Muslim neighbors and introduce them to Jesus and their ministry.
“The whole premise of this book is that loving your Muslim neighbor instead of ignoring or feeling bothered by them, must translate into action, specifically the action of sharing the best news of all with them—that they can be reconciled to God through Jesus the Messiah.”
The author states that reasons Muslims convert to Christianity are many, including becoming physically healed by prayers to Jesus, being delivered from demonic attacks by using the power of Jesus’ name, and by them asking critical questions about the Qur’an and Muhammad, among many other reasons. The author advises that when you hear a Muslim speaking critically about Islam,
“Clarify that Christianity teaches an ethical system but doesn’t have a political system built into the religion, as does Islam.”
The book covers methods to help a Muslim become a follower of Jesus, including easing their way to a Christian life without isolating them from their community and family. The key elements for Muslim ministry are described, as suggestions on how to meet and work with Muslims. These include working with an entire family, not just one member; going to places Muslims go (specialty restaurants, grocery stores, etc.); going to mosques and Islamic centers on days they have tours; getting to know Muslims through inviting them somewhere (a park or sporting event). After you have a friendship, you can begin to start a religious conversation to share the gospel.
