A Gift to Remember looks like an exciting Christmas themed book. What’s the core message of the book?
In this unique children’s book,
Santa will inspire families to REMEMBER
what is truly important in life: kindness, family, and love. It also serves as
a gentle reminder of the greatest gift - the tiny baby that came to save us all.
The story and illustrations also promote holiday magic, imagination and joy.
What age group is the book
for?
The book is for ages 3-8.
However, I think deep down we all are kids at heart. Families of any age will
enjoy reading the book.
That’s an amazing
cover. Can you tell us a little about
it?
Thank you- I have to agree
it’s beautiful as are the inside pages! I had the honor of working with
illustrator Ylber Cërvadiku. He masterfully captured the whimsical quality of
Christmas coupled with its important message. The mailbox on the cover symbolizes
all of the precious letters sent to the North Pole each year. Santa’s furry
friends are always around, so be on the lookout for them hidden in the pages.
The magic dust you see falling, well… you will have to read the book to find
out what that is all about!
When did you decide to
become a writer?
My
young son inspired this work with his letter to Santa. For the past two
Christmases, we have created this tradition in our home and it has been
wonderful. It was then I knew the words needed to be shared.
Did anything stick out as
particularly challenging when writing A Gift to Remember?
Writing in verse or rhyme is
extremely challenging. But that is how this book came out of my heart, so I
rolled with it. Editor Kathryn Palmer was so detailed to make sure I had produced
high quality work in that regard. Love editors!
What do you like to do
when not writing?
That’s a great question! I
hope my readers can get to know me better over time. I love teaching ballet. I
am a former professional of ballet and worked to create free community ballet
programs. Dance and writing have many similarities I have found. I also love
nature, spending quality time with friends, singing, reading a good book,
laughing, and spending time with my imaginative boys.
Where can readers find out
more about your work?
They can
read about A Gift to Remember and
also subscribe to hear about my future works. I love receiving letters/emails,
just like Santa, so please feel free to write to me.
