I Am Different, I Am Great looks like an exciting children’s story. What will readers get out of the book?
This picture book revolves around a
little girl who finds out she's more than just her voice. This story will give
you a glimpse into the experience of an Asian immigrant family.
What inspired the idea for your book?
I’m an Early Childhood Educator who
has been working with young children for the past 12 years. My own experiences
as a second-generation immigrant inspired me to write this story about some of
the challenges children and their families face.
How did you come up with the title to your book?
I wanted my
readers to understand that we are all different and unique. It’s great to be
different.
What age group is the book for?
Children aged 3
and up
What part of the book was the most fun to write?
Mei Mei reflecting
on why she’s more than just her voice. She looks within herself to find
qualities that make her special and wonderful.
What do you like to do when not writing?
In my spare
time, I love to hike, play sports and hang out with my family.
